IVF in Prague
Last updated: January 2026
Prague is where you go for good IVF at Western European quality and Eastern European prices. One-third of all IVF cycles performed in the Czech Republic. Roughly 10,000 per year are for foreign patients (The Conversation, 2016). Among egg donation recipients specifically, 86.3% are foreign nationals (Czech health statistics, via Civio 2021).
Why Prague
Price. IVF from €2,600 with own eggs. That’s 50-60% less than Barcelona and 70% less than Zürich. Even including flights and a hotel, you come out ahead.
International infrastructure. Prague’s fertility clinics derive a large share of revenue from foreign patients. They’re set up for it. Multilingual staff, remote consultations, airport pickups, accommodation partnerships.
Proximity to Germany and Austria. Berlin is 350km away, Munich 385km, Vienna 333km. All under 4 hours by car. Frankfurt is Prague airport’s busiest route (~49 flights/week). 43% of Gynem’s 2024 patients were German (Gynem). This matters because egg donation is illegal in Germany, pushing German patients to Prague.
Anonymous donation. Czech law mandates anonymous donation with a large donor pool, similar to Spain.
