IVF in Czech Republic
Last updated: December 2025
Czech Republic is where you go when you want good IVF without paying Western European prices. The quality gap between a €3,000 cycle in Prague and a €8,000 cycle in Zurich is essentially zero. Same drugs, same equipment, same protocols. The price difference is rent and salaries.
Why Czech Republic
- Price. Full IVF from €2,500. That’s 50–60% less than Germany, UK, or Switzerland. Even with flights and a hotel, you come out ahead.
- International focus. Czech fertility clinics get a huge share of their revenue from foreign patients. They’re set up for it. English and German speaking staff, airport pickups, accommodation deals, remote monitoring.
- No waiting lists. Unlike the NHS or German public system, you can typically start within 4–6 weeks of your first consultation.
Costs
| Treatment | Price Range |
|---|---|
| IVF (own eggs) | €2,500–€4,000 |
| IVF (donor eggs) | €4,000–€6,500 |
| ICSI | €3,000–€4,500 |
| Egg freezing | €1,500–€3,000 |
| IUI | €400–€800 |
Medication runs €500–€1,500 extra. Most clinics let you buy medication at home and bring it, or source it locally at Czech pharmacy prices (which are lower).
Top Clinics
Prague
- Reprofit International. One of the largest fertility centres in Central Europe. Purpose-built facility, strong donor programme. Popular with British and German patients.
- IVF Cube. Boutique feel, high-tech lab. Known for good patient communication.
- Gennet. Large clinic, part of a Czech healthcare group. Competitive pricing.
- Pronatal. Multiple locations across Prague. Long track record.
Brno
- Reprofit Brno. The original Reprofit location. Brno is cheaper than Prague for accommodation.
- ISCARE. Another solid option with a dedicated international department.
Prague is the default choice for most international patients. Brno is worth considering if you want lower accommodation costs and a quieter setting.
The Law
- Egg donation: Legal, anonymous
- Sperm donation: Legal, anonymous
- Embryo donation: Legal
- Surrogacy: Not regulated (grey area, not recommended)
- PGT-A: Legal
- Gender selection: Illegal (except medical)
- Single women: Can access treatment with donor sperm
- Same-sex couples: No legal provision (though some clinics treat on a case-by-case basis)
- Age limit: 49 for women by law
- Embryo culture: Up to day 5 (blastocyst) allowed
What to Watch Out For
- “Guaranteed” programmes. Some clinics offer refund programmes if you don’t get pregnant after X cycles. Read the fine print. Exclusion criteria are often strict.
- Donor matching. Czech law requires anonymous donation, and matching is based on phenotype (appearance). Ask how matching works at your clinic.
- Travel logistics. Budget for 2 trips: consultation + transfer. Some clinics offer video consultations for the first appointment, so you only fly once.
Total Cost Including Travel (from London)
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| IVF cycle | €3,000 |
| Medication | €800 |
| Return flights (x2 trips) | €200 |
| Hotel (5 nights total) | €400 |
| Total | €4,400 |
That’s still cheaper than a single NHS-referred private IVF cycle in London.
